It is a sad commentary on this society that in this country you need a license for just about everything... to get married, to hunt, fish, drive a car, etc... it seems the only thing that you don't need a license for is to have children. And that happens to be the single most important thing we will ever have to do. It will affect you, your life, the lives of your children and their children for generations to come (pretty scary, isn't it?) Maybe they should start teaching this in middle school.

Children don't come with instructions! So then how do we raise them? We use what we know. Our own blueprint from our own childhood (that's even scarier for some of us, isn't it?)

Now don't get me wrong, some of us start out with the best of intentions.
