I Can Help, Call Me: (516) 869-1832Depression is perhaps one of the most common words used. "I feel depressed", "You look depressed", Oh that's depressing". But for as much as it is used, it is perhaps the most misunderstood disorder. Depression is a serious disorder and shouldn't be taken lightly. Depression is caused by a chemical imbalance of neurotransmitters in the brain, serotonin, but not exclusively.

It is interesting that while we've all heard and used the word, if we are diagnosed with depression it becomes an embarrassment. Anyone who suffers from depression or knows a loved one who has been diagnosed with depression, knows exactly what I'm talking about.

There are now finally a number of good T.V. commercials that talk about depression. "Where does depression hurt, who does depression hurt?" The answer is everywhere and everyone. Millions of people from all walks of life and almost every age group suffer from depression.

If you think you or a loved one is suffering from depression, please seek professional help.

There are so many good medications that are on the market to give you relief. Medication is sometimes a dirty word for some people.

I Can Help, Call Me: (516) 869-1832I always find it interesting to hear from the substance abusers I work with that they are anti meds. They don't want to depend on or get addicted to any medication?

The reality is that these medications are not addicting and I always point out to clients that you only know yourself from here (point A) suffering from depression. Until you get to (point B) after the meds begin to work, you can't make an informed decision. I have never had any client who attained (point B) want to go back to (point A) ever.

Depression is treatable; no one should have to, or want to suffer from it
